WebMoment

Monitoring and Measurement in the Next generation Technologies

The main objective of the MOMENT project is to design and implement a mediator architecture to offer a unified interface to all data bases and measurement facilities for IP traffic monitoring and service supervision. Thus its users will be able to submit advanced queries based on semantic access, with possible combinations of different data sources, with privacy protection mechanisms.

The MOMENT project consortium has partners from Austria, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland with a special cooperation link with CAIDA (USA group).

MOMENT represents a qualitative step ahead in the track for future Internet, as far as service-aware management architecture concerns, from FP6 developments (see rationale and scope).

MOMENT partners have been cooperating with other groups for future Internet design with special attention to standardization issues and challenges to provide new services with quality and uses privacy respect. The relevance of the project should not be restricted to a simple middleware development but its impact spans from QoS management to huge data manipulation through web services in a distributed architecture with impact in Future Internet designs and traffic measurement ontology standardization.

Thus, MOMENT has supported the organization of two workshops to deal with such issues in a cooperative way. Additionally deliverable 6.4 certifies the coopertive actions of MOMENT within FIA and other EU-funded projects.

Furthermore, MOMENT partners are leading the ETSI Industry Specification Group (ISG) Measurement Ontology for IP traffic (MOI) to boost standardizing the keystone ontology on which the mediator is supported to accomplish semantic queries (cf. MOMENT ontology)
