Future Internet Cluster Meeting

 (15 - June 2010)

As part of the Future Network & MobileSummit 2010, that will take place in Florence, Italy on June 15, a cluster meeting to join forces in facing the key challenges to transform Future Internet visions into reality has been proposed.

It can be considered in the line of previous meetings like the last one held in March 9 at  Sophia Antipolis, France. This time the topics selected are:

  • Addressing Wireless Access and Mobility in the Network of the Future
  • Security and Privacy in the Network of the Future

Since this last topic is quite related to MOMENT project, a proposal has been submitted by several partners (find it HERE).

In parallel, a proposal for a demo in the corresponding section of the Future Network & MobileSummit was submitted to disseminate the mediator features.

On 22nd April, the organizers of the cluster meeting confirmed that the proposal sent by MOMENT partners has been accepted. This will allow MOMENT to highlight its benefits for traffic monitoring with privacy protection and security management.

The agenda for this event icludes a short presentation of the proposal "Traffic monitoring for network management and security applications that meet preservation of users’ privacy" and the special session "Towards a consolidated network architecture based on MANA and FIA work"

From the minutes of the meeting, the following points can be highlighted:

1. Monitoring/analysis/anomaly detection for reactive security should focus on privacy issues.
2. These components have to be integrated into the design in an early stage.
3. Research has to investigate the resource consumption, costs and the optimisation. Therefore a flexible approach is needed.
4. The need for more effort in standardisation was approved by the statement "collaboration of areas sometimes difficult"
